I’ll have a few hours to kill on a business trip to Portland, Oregon next week. Are there any truly above-average hobby shops that would be worth a visit? I’m strictly HO scale and have been to many shops all over the country.
Check out Hobbysmith - they are very good -Wonderful staff…

Also try: Whistle Stop Trains at 11724 SE Division St.
You might also want to check out Vic’s Hobby Supply, 606 N.E. Broadway (near Lloyd Center).
Depending on your time, for my wife and I no trip to Portland is complete without a visit to Powell’s Books, 10th & Burnside. Lots of railroad books, and just about any other topic you might want.

I have spent quote a bit of time in Portland during the last 12 months and was in Portland myself a couple of weeks ago. Vic’s is a great old store. There are a lot of detail parts in stock, and it is always good for great converation with the hired help. Whistlestop is also a very good store with a lot of inventory. It seemed a bit out of the way, but worth the drive.
