Post your DART Knowledge!

I think Dallas made a good choice when they started their light rail…I’ve ridden on it several times when visiting the area and think that they are a blast. Some people think that “light rail” really isn’t trains, but this line is different. The cars are attractavely painted, and the line itself is really cool too. Here you can write about what you know about the DART light rail system, and the Trinity Railway Express (owned by DART) as well![8D]

I think the “T” 1/2 of TRE,its a joint venture …T is the bus company in FT Worth

I haven’t ridden the DART trains, but I have the TRE. I found it to be a comfortable and pleasant ride and will ride it again. It sure beats driving a car between Dallas and Ft. Worth!

Hmm I rode DART cars in Salt Lake City during the 2002 Olympics, the lihgt rail was hauling 25000 a day…

Edit cuz I cant Spaull

I rode the DART Light Rail and the Trinity Rail Express last October, and I was impressed! Many things impresed me. One was the use of RDC’s on several peak and off-peak trips, another was railfans could photograph trains from the station platforms without being hassled (NJ Transit are you listening?), but what impressed me the most was the ability to easily transfer between the various transportation modes at the stations.

I do know the DART line up to Plano is on the old SP line through there. I haven’t ridden it yet, but my parents live in Richardson and I remember SP trains through downtown Richardson when I was little.

DART is wonderful. I have always enjoyed my rides to the zoo, downtown, and to Fort Worth on the TRE. DART was well financed by the penny sales tax, has been well managed, and engineered correctly. I love the elevated part of the light rail, adn the stations over Walnut Hill and Park Lane, which when I show pictures of wins my argument for light rail over the toy monorails…

I haven’t seen or ridden DART in Dallas, but I have caught a couple of rides on Minneapolis’s new Metra light rail line. It’s fantastic!

Ya their cool but they ruined Santa Fe in Dallas
