Posting an image (picture) in the new forum

The code is [img*](insert link here)[/img] Minus the *
Alec your problem is the border thing. All you want is the link nothing else.

The line should look like this: [img*]http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/7859/p7130051oi9.jpg[/img] minus the *

The old forum had an image icon on the “reply to topic” that all you had to do was import the photo, highlight it, and click the icon, the [img] brackets were automaticly added in on swift step, now we have to march back to the [censored][censored] 80’s and TYPE the stupid code in…

Sorry if I’m gripping a bit about this but we were promised a newer better forum…well I’m waiting for a newer-better, circa 2006 forum…not a newer- better circa 1986 forum…

[:(!][:(!][:(!]

Yeh tried that - I hand typed the url so no possibility of anything else so the forum software is putting in the extra bit about the border. It also doesn’t show up in the editing window.

Bump.

Seems some more are asking, glad to help.

Cool ! [:D] ( This photo come from New Zealand Former TR= Tranz Rail now Toll Rail )

I CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY ONE CAN’T USE A GIF INSTEAD OF A REGULAR PICTURE.
ALSO,WHEN I WANT TO FIND SOMETHING LIKE A PROPERTYS WHICH IS SAVED INTO A COMPUTER. LIKE SAVING A GIF. WHERE DO I GO IN MY COMPUTER TO PULL UP THE SAVED PROPERTYS? EDIT. LIKE INSTEAD OF TYPING THE PROPERTYS LINK IN FORUM…WHY CAN I FIND THE LINK TO MAKE IT EASER JUST GO LOOKING FOR IT. ALLAN.

Hi Allan,

3 things:

1: GIFs can be posted. The yellow Pathfinder running on the bumpy road in my signature is a GIF. This is a GIF:

2: The properties of an image are accessed differently in different programs. In Firefox, I can right-click the image and select the Properties listing from the list of other options that come up.

And third, it is considered impolite on the internet to use all CAPITALS. It is considered that same as shouting at someone [;)].

Hope these help you out a bit,

Cheers,

P

Have you seen this one or not yet ?

"Your link has a lot of extra stuff in it, this may be casuing the problem. " The extra crap is the result of a bug. I get the same thing on my machine. I type things as they’re “supposed” to be typed, and the software garbles it up to this unintelligible gibberish. Something’s not right with the software, plain and simple. The problem is especially rampant on Macs, but some with PCs are reporting random problems as well. I’ve sent e-mails to customer support, but the problem still hasn’t been solved. Later, K

Thanks for the tips guys. Posted my first pics from photobucket without a problem… WHEW…there is hope [:)] THANKS!!!

Brian

I have tried several tests this morning and the link seems fine. However, when I post the image, there is the dead link icon and a line of text with the “border” grouping on the end. I have not seen this before.

I use railimages.com, and had no problems posting images in the previous forum. How do I get rid of the extra code that seems to be impeding my image posts? It used to be that I right clicked the enlarged image in railimages, highlighted the URL, copied it into the open text box here, and then added the bracket codes to each end of the URL. Now it provides the border stuff…what gives?

Crandell, for what ever reason, the latest version of Firefox seems to be the work around. It is a free download and I have had no problems posting photos with it. I can’t get images to work right with Safari (Mac) or an older version of Icky Exploder. This problem is most likely a bug in the new software that needs to be fixed. In the meantime, get Firefox (chances are that you will like it anyway as it has a very good interface. I now use it as my primary browser and keep Safari as a backup.) Computer Gurus on all platforms have always suggested that you have two or more browsers because no one browser will always work with ALL websites.

I see nothong but a lttle box.

See here for info on posting images.
