Lots of people have been asking how to post a picture, well I will try my best to explain (but it would be nice if an “insert image” button was here [;)])
First, you need your image on a web site, my example is on photobucket.
Copy the image location, should look something like this (use ctrl + V to insert):
This will not result in the image, you need to add the following:
At the start, no space, add WITHOUT the * [*IMG] (can be lower or upper case, does not matter for both)
at the end, no space, add [/IMG]
(note on photobucket they already supply the correct “tag” and you can just copy and paste without having to do all this [^] )
If you are using Firefox, I found you will need to use Ctrl + V to paste the pic. There is no ‘‘Paste’’ button on the post. I too use Photobucket, do not know how the others work. Hope this will help. Mike
For you fellow Mac users out there it would be Command + V (the one with the Apple on it next to the space bar) BTW it works the same on most all browsers. If you are not using Photobucket or another site that sets up the url for you to copy, just highlight the complete url in the address bar at the top of the browser on the page you want to show and do a “copy - paste” (as in Ctrl or Command +C and then put the curser where you want it here at this site and do the Ctrl or Command +V) adding the [ img] and [ /img] tags.
EDIT: Very weird, I posted this and got TWO images, the one I did with the tags, and the one from your original post that does not show up in your post. Not a clue about that.
Also, in Firefox, there is no “paste” command on a right mouse click, hence my reference to “Ctrl + V” in my original post (I use Firefox). Maybe IE users have that option?
Your link has a lot of extra stuff in it, this may be casuing the problem.
What I have underlined is all you need (make dure you remove the " as well), just add the IMG and /IMG tags (with the ) and you should be good to go. That is what I did to get your photo to show in my post.
Check to see if imageshack has a made up link with the correct tags, photobucket does and I would hope others do.
I tried using IMG tags technique in a post a couple of days ago, and couldn’t get it to work. I tried copying and pasting, then hand typed the url so I made sure that I wasn’t picking up anything else up. The photo is on my website and clicking the seperate link I made works, yet the image doesn’t display in the forum. Instead I get the broken link icon and somtimes the the url displays with " border=“0” /> after it. Any idea what’s going on?
Just not on the (mouse) right click in Firefox on this forum for some reason. I have a lot more commands available from right click on other forums, just seem to be limited here.
And I am glad people are finding the tip helpful. Really no issue for those of us using photobucket, they have a link already done with the tags, just copy and paste.
