What’s up with having to have posts approved by a moderator???
Things have changed around the forum (some for good, some for not so good).
Moderators come and go (and sometimes act) like fresh-out-of-college Trainmasters.
They have to make sure you’re not some desperado, out trying to stir up trouble. [C):-)]

I just noticed that you put an initial in your name–they think you’re a newbie.
From time to time spammers use bots to post advertising or other unwelcome stuff on lots of forums, so new posters need the moderators to check the first few posts. Once you are known to be a human being with no nefarious intentions your posts will no longer have to be approved.
Hi Carl, good to see you. I’m still trying to get out there and visit you and Pat someday. I got laid off over a year ago and haven’t been able to afford it. That’s about to change though as I just accepted an offer for a job, another traveling job, but this time I’ll be flying around the country instead of driving around in the west.(might have to start the "were is its again). Mabee I’ll get lucky and they’ll send me out there. [8D]

Did you ever get back to the location where a UP freight train collapsed an old ex-SP through truss bridge over the Humboldt River 3 - 4 years back ? I think it was southwest of Elko, NV, if I recall correctly - it was part of the paired directional running over the former SP and WP, and one of those tracks had a moderately long tunnel right nearby. Last we saw or heard, the UP had installed new concrete caissons for the piers, and was about to install a pre-cast concrete bridge on them.

No, I have not been back since. It was in Palisade Canyon. I80 avoids the canyon and it’s about a 15 mile detour to get in there and I haven’t had the time the few times I have gone through there. I don’t work for the company I was back then so I have not traveled much this last year. I did go by last month, but I was headded for New Hampshire and had a long way to go. there were lots of places I would have liked to check out on that trip but time didn’t permit. I did take the time to stop by Baily yard in North Platte and check out the Golden Spike Tower, a MUST SEE for any railfan!!!
I believe one of us is looking into this. New users are moderated for the reasons outlined above. Its not personal.

New here to this forum just looking for ideas for my next layout. I currently model in HO, O, and N scale. My next layout, I am planning on making a Polar Express layout with scenes from the movie. I got back into trains with my oldest boy when he was about a year or so old. Curse that Thomas, he’s cost me a lot of money over the last three years.
