Hello, it has been a while since I last posted here. I have been experencing issues with my Power Cab speed encoder, specifically that it seems “loose”. If I turn it normally, it does nothing, but it turns very easily. If I apply pressure to the right (towards the encoder) while I am turning it, it seems to “catch” and will adjust the speed as normal. This started happening after I installed an updated EEPROM.
I don’t know how it can be adjusted, does anyone have any experience with this?
I’ve checked inside mutiple times, and the IC is properly seated. I’m pretty sure that the problem is with the encoder, given that pressure on the encoder wheel will make it work. It probally became “loose” when I openened the case.
I think you need to address this problem to NCE and see what they recommend. I’ve had numerous NCE ProCab Radio throttles opened up for various reasons and have never had a problem like yours. I also have two PowerCabs but have never opened one up.
You probably dislodged something mechanical while taking it apart or putting in the new chip. Could be that it simply is running in the wrong set of holes so it no longer contacts the rest of the assembly. Look for cracked or broken off pieces of palstic, if anything like that is evident, it will have to go in for repair. If it’s just a piece not snapped under a catch or something, should be an easy fix.
