power pacs for peco switch motors

just wondering if the mrc railpower 1300 or 1370 has enough
juice to run a train and throw the peco motors at the sametime!
any comments would help!

Hello Craig! Sure you’ve some problems. Beginner? Don’t worry for your power pack,
that’s a good one.The problem you can get is with the peco switch motors, they burn easily if your finger stay a few time more on the push button. To remedy, install a capacitor discharge unit (Walthers catalog, kalmbach publishing) using the 16volts AC from your power pack it delivers a strong but short pulse (30/40volt during few µsecond) even so your finger is sticking on the button. That keeps safe the power pack ,prevents overload due to burned coils. Rgds Didier

Circuitron offers a CD unit. Definitely the way to go with any solenoid type switch motor.

thanks wizzard92.so if i get 2 mrc railpower 1300 pacs i will be able to runs 2 seperate trains on seperate lines and still be able to throw the switches with no problems.i do not plan to add much in the way of accessories in the near future.just those switch motors and thats about it.and yes i am a beginner.

In the future, you may want to consider a separate power supply for your switch machines.
