I know I had this topic along time ago. But I was checking if anyone had any new changes to their Power. All my Power is Back to Back. Allan.
cab forward some long hood forward
Most of mine are laying down in their boxes until I build a layout…
Does an ABBBBBBA set of F units count as back-to-back? CGW didn’t have MU hoses on the front of A units so they had to run the A units back to back with B(s) in between.
I run a pair of GP30s back-to-back so the train can run in either direction w/o being turned.
when I have 4 GP30s the first 2 will face forward and the rear 2 will face backward.
Sometimes with the cab ahead…

Well, I only have six diesels; four VGN FM units and two C&O E8As. Since the VGN labelled the long hood as the front, and I do NOT have the C&Os elephant style, I guess all mine are back to back.
Ya,pretty much any way you want your Power to be.
Allan.
Really, whatever I feel like…
Depends on what I’m running. ABA sets of F units are run basically back to back. The road hood units (GP, SD, U-Boats) are mostly run back to back, but if a third one is introduced it could be two nose forwards and one backwards. And my E units are elephant style for the passenger service.

On the JNR, all of the non-steam is double-ended, and all of the steam arrives smoke box forward. The one 2-6-2T departs bunker forward when it runs light to the bottom of the helper grade into town. I guess you could call the doubleheaders nose-to-tail.
On the TTT, all the locos are tank steamers, and all of them run with their smoke boxes upgrade. Doubleheaders, again, are nose-to-tail upgrade, and tail-to-nose downgrade.
Some freights on the JNR arrive nose-to-tail with a train between. That 2-6-2T is the designated pusher.

smokebox foward or cab foward.
or where ever the F is
I do GN '47-'50’s. They ran road switchers long end forward for protection of crew. It was a carryover from the steam days when you had that long boiler out in front of you. jc5729
No you goofe, you stack one on top of the other[;)][:D].
