Powering a Lionel 455 oil derrick

Does the wiring of this accessory have any special connection requirements. The bottom is not marked with " + " and "- " next to the posts. Does it matter which goes to which?

Does the same hold true for the modern versions 6-12930/6-12848?

Hey Ralph: I have the same one, it’ll work either way. later.

The + or - labels on the terminals would make sense only if it had to be run on one polarity of DC; but it will run on either AC or DC. I’m sure most are operated on AC.
