I have written a post describing my DCC system on the electronic section of this forum.
But on this layout, I am using a simple DC command station with automatic back-and-forth managment. In this way, I can discuss with visitors without having to drive the trains. This other system is very simple: the layout is equiped with IR barriers at each end and when detected, the train will automaticaly reverse its course and reach the other end of the layout… Nothing fancy here.
This layout is also equiped with a night and day lighting system and some ambiant sound around the sawmill during the day, and frogs at night
All electronic components and all the scenery are made by myself. The only commercial items are a Woodland scenic truck and the Atlas Shays. All the rest is hand crafted even the tracks.
