Prewar Lionel #254 Electric Locomotive

I have my father’s Lionel #254 Electric Locomotive that I believe he received as a Christmas gift in 1926 or 1927.
Following a year of misuse by an Uncle to set it up for neighborhood children while my father’s family relocated from NJ to Pittsburgh for a year in the late 1930’s it is in pretty poor shape. I have been able to acquire most of the missing external parts, but I am looking for a wiring diagram for this locomotive.
I’ve seen a post on this site from the early 2010’s with a link to a wiring diagram, but the link no longer works.
Is there a newer link to a wiring diagram for a Lionel #254?
Thanks

Those would be the Olsen’s Toy Train Parts diagrams. You might be able to find some in internet archive sites. Another possibility is locating one of the OTTP parts and wiring diagrams that Olsen’s sold on CD ROM on eBay.

Basically all positive connections are made with direct wiring off the rollers whereas all negative (grounding) connections are made through the shell, frame, wheels and axles. You’ll need to wire the headlight base contacts and the reverse lever to the motor but that’s pretty much it. This is a #254, not a #254E so it’s manual reverse, meaning the reverse lever simply changes the polarity of the motor.

Good luck!
