Problem with MTH Newsletter

I signed up for MTH’s Weekly Electronic Newsletter when they first announced it. After I didn’t receive it after several weeks I signed up again. I still have never received a single electronic newsletter from them.

I sent them an email and they said my email address was on their mailing list and that the problem was with my AOL spam filters. They said I should be able to tweak my filters to allow the messages to get through. However, I check my spam in box every day, just in case, and they are not going there. I receive electronic emails from K-Line and Lionel without any problems.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do to properly receive the newsletter? What is the URL so I can add it to my address list? I would like to receive the newsletter. I use AOL 9.0 SE, Windows XP with Service Pack 2, and Norton 2005 Anti-Virus and Firewall.

Thanks for the help and suggestions. [:)]

Bob,

When I used AOL, I opened a free Yahoo mail account for all of my e-mail. I found AOL to be very quirky and that I missed a lot of mail. No problems receiving any e-newsletters from MTH or anyone with Yahoo. Just my two cents.

I would contact Tony Lash and tell him.

AOL has a bad reputation for blocking legitimate emails - this isn’t the first time I’ve heard complaints about this sort of problem with them. I would take Dr. John’s advice, and open up a free Yahoo account.

Regards,
Clint

I second Dr. john’s suggestion about opening a Yahoo account. AOL utilizes a lot of their own software to manage their email servers, and some of it is **** poor.

I have SBC Yahoo! DSL and have no problems with the news letter.
I would send you the URL but I deleted it.

J. Fred maybe on to something. [:D]

AOL provides terrible service. As for MTH, well, I think they are totally untrustworthy…Around our town they are refered to as the Sue Line. It is not safe to assume that the problem lies with AOL, though likely, it could still be a problem with MTH. If your not worth suing, I just cant imagine why they would pay any attention to you. A frind of mine does all the warrantee work for dealers in our area, and the ‘supposedly’ superior MTH command and sound is the most unreliable by LARGE margin. GOOD LUCK! Both organizations leave a lot to be desired.

Well Jennifer, how do you really feel about MTH? Axe to grind?

Jon

By all means, Jennifer, don’t hold back! Tell us more about how you really feel about MTH (we don’t much care about AOL) and, more importantly, how you developed such strong emotions.

I had the same problem. I signed up, got a car and a catalog and that was it. No newsletter and no reply. The last catalog I got, I marked it " REFUSED " and sent it back. MTH did not do much for me. Also, phone calls never got returned.

I have had it explained to me that AOL’s architecture with proxy servers limits its ability to get some types of email. For example, I can’t send legit emails using a listserv to students with AOL accounts because of their default filter settings. I recommend re-signing up for it with a free Yahoo account. By the way, Hotmail doesn’t work well either.

And while you’re at it, you can sign up for the K-Line and Lionel and CTT e-newsletters as well!

Does AOHell’s email have a safe list or white list? If so, simply adding the addy that MTH uses to send letters with ought to let them into the inbox.
Hotmail, MSN, and Yahoo mail all have a safe list.

I have an AOHell screen name on my Father’s PC, that he never deleted - and I can still check AOL email thru aol.com homepage by signing in.
After posting this reply, I went there and found that if you click on “spam-settings”, or spam-controll, that you can elect to have a “custom senders list”, and choose to recieve email from a list of addys. There are multiple email settings for how AOL mail is handled, so you just need to look thru all the settings.

can I get a BEEP through AOL email? [:D]

I can’t say I agree (but almost fell out of my chair laughing)
