Proto 2 and Lionel switches

Hello,

I started running Proto 2 locomotives with the command controller but I have only one Lionel 042 switch that will light and operate when the command controller is hooked up to it. The switches are on track power should I change them to AC power to get them to work.

Kevin…Do you want to control the switch with the handheld remote for the DCS system? If so you will need to add an accessory control device made by MTH, wich is an add-on device, I think the proper term is an ACS. Without the control device you will have to throw the switches with their remote control. Lee F.

if you can power your switches on their own without track power thats the way to do it.

You say “change them to AC”. Isn’t your track power AC, all my O-gauge stuff is AC.

I am curious how you got an 042 switch to work using Proto 2? An 042 is a manual switch.

I have to believe he’s talking about an O27 42" diameter switch here.
