Hello…
I bought two of the recent Rapido offerings of the Budd streamlined coach. What caught my eye was the wider window pillar between the 3rd and 4th windows. None of my Budd drawings show this window arrangement and I wondered if anyone knew exactly which plan of Budd car this is modeled after.
Budd Drawing 60 seat coach for New York Central (above) showing the 61" window and 22" pillar.
And Rapido’s model… (below) with a 34" panel below the “Y” in the word York.
Just curious as to WHY the wider panel separates a group of three/four windows? I know some of the Chessie coaches had a divider in the CENTER of the car to reduce the “tunnel” effect but these cars predate those and are a different floor plan.
Any Ideas? Thanks, Ed
