providence worchester question

ive seen providence worchester running 2 locomotives, 1 on each end. i guess this is so the engineer doesnt need to run long hood foreward at any time. is the loco at the rear of the train somehow MU’ed, or is it just being towed?
(btw i was able to catch new england central at new london today–heard them on the scanner. caught them again a few miles down the line, it was dark, ripped past me10 feet away at about 50mph[:D][tup])

Its just being towed for switching moves and the return run.

Look in the trailing engine and you’ll see an engineer in there waiting for his turn.

PW NR-2 routinely runs with 2 on front and 1 on rear or various other combos…

If its not coupled to another engine, its not MUed and is just being towed.

Providence and Worcester (no h) doesn’t have DPU’s and doesn’t need them.

BTW - NECR doesn’t run anywhere around here at 50mph. It was more like 20 or 30 max.

Aw come on, Dave – it sure feels like 50 when you’re right next to it! (but you are quite right – first place there’s no point in running much over 30, second the track really won’t take it south of Palmer)

I like Worchester sauce on my food![(-D][:-,] Seriously, Guys, stay back at least 6’ for every 10MPH you think the train might be moving at and if you aren’t sure give yourself some room to move if you need to! And Pay Attention!

You mean worcestershire, PB? [;)]

Anyway I agree, 10 feet is way too close - 20 feet as a general rule is safe but the more the better.
