Any examples of either of these cars being tacked onto the back end of a PRR passenger train? If so any known train names or numbers?
I’ve watched many Green Frog and YouTube videos and what I’ve observed is that the practice was somewhat rare in the '50s and early '60s but became more prevalent toward the mid '60s and the end of PRR.
I believe one of the PRR fan sites has some train consists or ‘makeup of trains’ as the PRR referred to them as.
I’ll reply with an update if I get more information.
This video has some neat Pennsy scenes in it and IIRC, two views where there are baggage (and an RPO) on the tail end of trains.
Note the Great Northern Budd dome traveling west from the Budd plant at 8:30.
Edit: If you sign up for the PRR group.io list you can have access to their files section. I was just looking at one 1953 example of ‘Makeup of Trains’ and there are several examples of trains with ‘head end’ cars on the REAR end.
