PRR Keystone set - Review

So I got the set, It comes with a TMCC Berkshire, 3 cars and caboose. Loop of fasttrack, CW80 transformer.

I set the train up on my layout, did not get to try out its operation in conventional mode.

Apperance - The paint is very nice and crisp, the green is too “green” for PRR but its a nice change from all the black locos. All the cars looked nice.

Operation - The sound in the unit is just great. Its a generic sound set, but I have not heard this one before and the whistle sounds very nice to the ears, can quill it very well.

Some extra features - The smoke on/off and run/program switches are in the cab, since the tender hatches dont open. Cab figures.

Rolling stock - While its all 027, they are nice cars, some heft to them, all have diecast trucks.

Engine and tender

PRR Boxcar

Penn Salt tanker

PRR TOFC

PRR Porthole caboose

All in all, A nice set.

Enjoy!

I wish Lionel would release that style of tender as a seperate sale item.

Nice review. The set looks like a winner. What was the price on it?

Marty,

Just over $400 dollars…

Thanks,

Chris[8D]

Can you tell me why Lionel does not include a smoke stack on the caboose? Thanks,

Thanks for posting those pics Chris. I almost bought the Keystone myself. I ended up putting a set together myself and spending more money, but I got to pick exactly what I wanted. I still wouldn’t mind having that Keystone set though. If only money grew on trees.

Nice review CHRIS. I just got the Black Diamond Set and it runs great all in O guage.
