I would like to acquire one of the original cast iron keystone shaped whistle signs that the Pennsylvania railroad used. Does anyone know a source for the sign?
Thanks,
*** Watkins

They show up on ebay occasionally.
you can find one that is still up…and can find a truck with enough power to pull one out of the ground…i say go for it…but keep in mind…they are buried by something like 2 or 3 feet in the ground… and they are cast iron i do belive…so they arent the lightest easiest things to move or even get out of the ground along an old right of way…

Thanks for the info. I saw one on ebay a couple of months ago but was preoccupied and did not get a bid in on it. I will keep watching.ebay and one might come up again. If anyone knows where one might be for sale please email me at dwatkins@nctv.com.
For CSX engineer: I thought about your suggestion. Do not think my Pathfinder will have to power to extract it. With my luck the police would come on the scene while rescuing the sign. Besides that I live in the Dallas Texas area and the last time I checked my railway maps the Pennsylvania did not get this far west and south. If you see one along the few PRR lines that CSX acquired please stop your train, tie a chain to it and pull it out. I will gladly pay shipping.
Cheers,
I have some things that I would like to try to get rid of do you know what the catagory for RR items is? [:o)][:D][:)]

lol…i guess that would put you out of doing a midnight pickup since you dont live anywhere near an old PRR lines…lol… a locomotive might do the trick…but a few things could happen and none of them good… 1 the locomotive snaps it off at ground level…lol…2… its in so deep that it pulls the locomotive so hard it roles the rail over (unlikey…but a possablity…lol) 3… i get fired for theft or delaying a train…lol…

All you need is a crescent wrench to loosen the single square bolt that secures the sign to the metal post and the Keystone will lift right off.
Years ago when CR gave up the old PRR from Logansport IN west, I filled up the trunk of my old Pontiac GTO with them. They were quite heavy and I proceeded to give them out to all my friends.
Now I don’t even have one left for myself…Bummer

Sounds like ya need a powerstroke diesel…
They show up on ebay from time to time. It’s how I got my Lehigh Valley W sign and a mile marker.
