Question about Ultrascale (UK) wheelsets

I’ve tried wheelsets from most of the major UK manufacturers now including Romford (Markits), Scalelink and Alan Gibson, but I’ve also seen Ultrascale mentioned quite a few times. Looking them up, their wheels cost more than the other brands, but I can’t find much or any real comment about their quality compared to the other brands I’ve tried already. Has anyone used these before? If so, what kind of quality do they have compared to anyone else’s wheels? Are they worth the extra cost and the current 1-year waiting time?

I cannot help you D-S-F as my rolling stock has standard metal wheels.

I know a number of modellers of ‘Finescale Modelling’ use Romford and Alan Gibson wheelsets and believe them the best (in their opinion).
I know of nobody using Ultrascale.

As I say, sorry I cannot help.

I hadn’t heard of Ultrascale, so I checked their website. Some good looking stuff is featured there. Their products are discussed on other model railroad forums if you do a search.

Thanks, I did a little more searching and although I still couldn’t find much mention on forums of their quality compared to others, I did find a few useful videos. Looks like they’re made to a practically flawless level of precision, which is a problem I’ve had on occasion with the other brands, so I might go ahead and give these a try. It’s probably going to be a year to wait based on what the website says, but I won’t be able to start the project I want them for for a long time anyway.
