Question on Marklin set

Hello all. One of my friends has a Marklin set from his youth. After being passed around a few times, it is back in his possession. The number on the engine is #89005. On the set box, it looks like the # is CM20575. The label is worn, so that may not be correct. It is 3 rail, perhaps “OO” gauge? He needs to know if it is AC or DC as the transformer is still in Africa. Also, he needs new brushes for the locomotive and doesn’t know of a source. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dennis

Probably HO, running on AC. Chances are that the transformer wants 230 volts. Reversing is by a higher-voltage pulse, not by interrupting the voltage as Lionel does.

It is AC, any O gauge transformer will suffice.

Thanks for the information regarding AC. Does anyone know of a source for brushes for this engine? Also, if there is a website that deals with information on Marklin, I’d like to forward that information to him.

Thanks again,
dennis

Dennis try nicholas smith trains in PA. I was able to get some info from them once I believe I was looking at minitrix at the time but believe its part of marklin so they may be able to help you. but as stated marklin makes a 3 rail per say thats ho scale the middle rail is almost invisable

P.S. almost forgot
