Questions about 2 Postwar Sets

I have some questions about two Postwar Sets

  1. The 1959 Baltimore and Ohio Set with the 247 steam locomtive with a Blue Stripe along th side of the locomotive and the Tender.

I saw the locomotive and loved it. I’d like to buy the locomotive and piece togather a set but what came in it. I’d like to know so if there isn’t anyhing interesting in the set then I’ll just buy the locomotive

  1. The 1956 and/or 1957 Allred Lehigh Valley Center Cab Diesel. My grandfather has that set and lost of other freight crs, so he can’t remember what cars came in the set. What Cars came in it?

Your 247 B&O was set No.16135 it came with:
6826 Flat car with Christmas Trees
6819 Flatcar with Helicopter
6821 Flatcar with crates
6017 Caboose
1015 45 watt transformer
8 curves 1 Straight and 1 uncoupling track O-=27

I can’t locate my 56 catalog but the 57 catalog shows (4) 44 tonners as separate sale items.The all red version is the 627 LV, there’s also a 625 in Red and Black .

Your Lehigh Valley set was likely from 1956 (set #1543 /700). Contained 627 LV Center Cab, 6121 flatcar with pipes, 6112 black gondola with canisters, 6017 SP-type caboose. The set (complete wth track and transformer) retailed for $25 back then.
