There was an article in GR a few years back about a DIY rail Bender. As I recall it used large washers and “L” beams. Anyone remember which issue it was in?
Thanks,
Walt

Walt,
There was one waaaaaay back in July/August 1986. There was also one in the June 2002 issue.
Thanks Rene, I’ll see if I have either of those issues in my collection. If I don’t, is/are those articles archived? And if so, can they be downloaded?
Thanks again,
Walt
Neither of them are available to download. I’ve had a few requests for them recently, though, so I might think about offering them as a PDF for sale down the road.
In the meantime, I’m pretty sure the 2002 issue is available to order, and you can order a photocopy of the older one.
Here are a few photos of railbenders I recently got via another E-group:

Matthew,
Thank you for all the links. However I am unable to open them. I even signed onto hotmail, still no luck. But thanks anyway.
Walt
Sorry Walt. I’ll put them into a photobucket album and repost later today.
Thanks once again Matt.
Walt
Now, this should work. Below is a link to a PhotoBucket album with 25 photos of rail benders and I’ve tried to attach the same photos to this post.

Hi, I builded the rail bender that was in Garden Railway July/Aug 1986. It works very good . Bruce
With all the one rail bending I bend both at the same time and go on with my job.
Train-Li is a great bender…but if you have way to much time on your hands, materials and hope the other rail will turn out right the 1st time then by all means have at it!
I can say the $300.00 was spent wisely. But other stuff I will build.

Hi Matt,
I downloaded all the images and yes indeed, there is plenty of “food for thought” there. I really appreciate your efforts to get those posted, thanks.
Walt
You’re very welcome Walt.
When I get a chance I want to build one of those vice-type rail benders. Shouldnt be that difficult to adapt.
Anyway, enjoy the weekend weather, if you can.
Bestest,
