Rail History Preservation(You Too Can Help)

Hey there everyone!
Since I’ve been hanging around this forum we have all discussed our favorite fallen flags and loactions that we remember railfanning at one time or another. I encourage you to feel free to list other sites in other states on this thread, but for now here are some locations in the Midwest you can help preserve for future railfans :

INDIANA
Nickel Plate Roundhouse, Frankfort, IN

PRR Station, Richmond, IN

ILLINOIS
Union Station, Chicago, IL

Illinois Central Depot, Mattoon, IL

WISCONSIN
The Little Red Store, Wauwatosa, WI
The Soo Line Ore Dock, Ashland, WI and
The Walker House, Mineral Point, WI

Of course there are a number of railroad museums who are looking for your help as well. You don’t have to give money, just take a minute and see how you can preserve rail history near you! Time to climb down from the soapbox![soapbox]

I normally don’t do this but:

BUMP

If nothing else check out the link on Chicago Union Station, which they are considering altering to make it more appealing thus changing it’s landmark status. It would be such a shame for this great railroad landmark and star of such movies as The Untouchables and The Sting(okay, calling it the star may be reaching a bit[:D]) to be changed. They have already either altered or torn down stations such as Dearborn Station and the old CNW station (now the Olgive Transportation Center. Don’t let this one slip away too!

Mike

make donations and visit museums as we can.matt and I were very happy to see the nkp 765 in new haven.
