Rail Net Solutions?

I am in the market of quick easy and cheap detecction units. I have recently discovered rail net solutions while paging through walthers new catalog, and website. I want to know how it works and if you need a signaling program even tho it looks as tho the decoder does the signal driving. If anyone knows about these please let me know or if they have instructions how the work or any information thank you.

haven’t used it but it’s a loconet device so it works with digitrax’s signalling system as well as with railnet’s own signal system . i suspect that software would be needed with anything other than railnet’s signal controllers and maybe even with them too

This is a Loconet compatible device. The dual signal unit can ‘read’ Loconet signal msg commands, and read them. It has built in signal logic and does not need a PC software package to drive the signals for basic ABS signaling. I have not seen it in use, and like most have only read the write up in the Walthers catalog. At $35/block to read the block and drive two signals, it appears to be a good value. You also need a ‘translator’ module that will set you back another $17 for the layout. It appears the you have to ‘set up’ the sytem each time you power up(run a train through the layout), and I see nothing about APB or approach lighting options like several of the other systems have available. Atlas has a new signal(Type G) with logic that is also going to be available later this year. The cost may be similar and there is a full operational write up downloadable from the Atlas web site for review.

Their products look like they would be a good solution for an ABS installation on modules, but from what I read on the Digitrax Yahoo!Group last January (when a member was unable to make any kind of contact with them via phone or e-mail) and based on their web site no longer being available, I’m suspecting that they’re no longer in business.

I’ve sent a note to the contact address listed on their domain registration to see whether they’re still around. It didn’t bounce right away, so maybe I’ll hear something back one way or another.

Keep us informed if you get a reply I am sure a lot of people would be interested in knowing about this product.

I also looked at Atlas’ system thats coming out this Fall its looks like it will be a nice set up but will cost a little more. Check it out at www.atlasrr.com also dont know if you can use dcc with it.
