I think you need to drive to Merida to see anything. I haven’t been there, but I did look into a trip once. I don’t know what the freight action is there at all, but here are some links you might like.
Wow thats quite an interesting deal, but $4K for 2 people? too steep for me.
Hmmm…Cancun eh ? ever been there ?
HOT HOT HOTTTT!!!
and HUMID!!! Holy crap was it humid! all you need to pack is a hat, sunglasses, tank tops, light shorts and flip flops, anything else is just dead weight.
If you get the chance better to check out the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza or Tulum which are nearby.
and BEWARE OF THE TIMESHARE SALESPEOPLE, they will start on you the moment yuor off the plane with offers of free tickets to this or that, its BS, all they want to do is get you to thier “resort” and then pressure you to buy into a timeshare their, its a waste of time, you may get your free tickets but you’ll blow 1/2 a day listening to their sales pitch.
You are really not serious thinking of trains when so many other things to do in Cancun like fishing, boating, wind surfing yada, yada, yada. Stay away from the lagoon as it is full of crocs (no joking) you will see signs posted. I do not know if they have emigrated to the ocean side as yet. There was a show on Animal Planet about it so be very careful!
When given the choice between fishing and train watching, I’ll pick train watching everytime. The best, of course, would be fishing along railroad tracks where you get to do both.
That maybe but Cancun is one of those “exotic” places in the world where trains should move to the back burner while others things like I mentioned & now add para sailing, riding the banana boat (if you can) enjoying pina colada’s so on & so forth should come to the fore
