Looks like a NMRA Division 5 sponsored event.

For those of you within driving distance of Cleveland, Railfest is a very good show. If your wife comes along and she’s more into clothing than train shows, there’s a large mall situated about 2 miles from there. You can both shop and go home happy…[:)]

Sounds interesting, but where exactly is Kirtland, OH? I’m familiar with nearly every town in Ohio but have not ever heard of Kirtland. It’s probably right under my nose, LOL.

Also, considering I’ve never been to a railfest before, what exactly do they do there? I’d like to know. Because I’ve heard of Railfest 2000, where they switched the numbers on GCFX 2000 to 3072. Are model trains available at these events? I’m just curious, and would like to go there for my first time. I’ve been hearing about them for some time, but never had gone to one.

Thanks

Richard,

It’s on the eastside of Cleveland. From Fairlawn: Take I-77N to I-271N. Follow I-271 to I-90E. Stay on I-90E for about 3-4 miles and get off at the SR 306 (Mentor/Kirtland) exit. Turn R. The entrance to LCC is about 1/2 mile down on the left side of the road.

Yes, vendors sell their wares at Railfest. You can buy all sorts of MRR and RR related paraphernalia (i.e. locomotives, rolling stock, structures, videos, clothing, memorabilia, parts, etc.) in ALL gauges. Definitely worth the drive if you can make it. It’s a full-fledge train show.
