Railpictures.net question

How long does it take for them to accept / reject pictures?

Probably as long as it takes to add 12 popups to them!LOL

Yea, no kiddin.[;)]

Normally, it shouldn’t take more than a day, and things usually move right along within an hour or so. If you’re getting pop-ups, consider using a different browser! Mozilla FireFox is a good choice, with built-in pop-up (and spyware!) blocking. Its tabbed browsing comes in handy for viewing lots of RP.net photos at one time, only problem is… you still have to use IE to upload…

yea, with FireFox all you get is a message that a popup has been blocked. Of course the message is a little text on top of the page, not a regular windows message.

It would be funny if you got a popup saying that a popup has been blocked lol

Well, without all of the nonsence(and I’m not talking about railpictures.net), it takes about 1 day.

Happy Railroading.[swg][swg]

I use photo bucket: about 3 seconds.

They’ve rejected every photo i’ve tried, and admittedly they should have high standards, but I think these were VERy good photos, the best I have. Brilliant colours, and a great mountain backdrop in one case.
Oh well, maybe someday I’ll takea photo that knocks their ocks off…

They’ve been really backed up lately. Last night they took a while, and this morning they are already up to 126 photos in the queue, and it’s still rising.

I’ve found the wait to be 15 minutes or less. As for rejection - don’t sweat it Matthew - I had a bunch rejected before finally getting one or two accepted. I too felt that a number of my rejects met all of their criteria. The fact of the matter is, they have established a definition of what they consider a good picture, and, as near as I can tell, they do a pretty good job of holding to it. The key here is to remember it is their definition not THE definition which means that in a different venue with a different audience your rejects (and mine and others) might be accepted.
If you think your pictures are worthy of a wider audience try submitting them elsewhere. Where I live there are countless local photo competitions which a person can enter and as near as I’ve been able to determine most of them have a category in which train pictures could be included. I’ve entered a few over the years - got an honorable mention once and some favorable comments. It’s a great way to meet and talk to other photographers and get a little attention as well.

If you like, you could post a link to your rejected photos (not the railpics link- they’re deleted in 3 days), and we can help you out.

No voting. Just post. Free. 50,000 photos so far.

I had recently joined Railpictures.net and now I am looking for another site to upload railpics instead. I am studying the nerail link posted above…I submitted some pics to Railpictures.net, and had them approved…I subsequently posted one on this forum and after viewing the post, found ads attached to my picture by Railpictures.net that I consider embarrassing…and inappropriate…I deleted a Pennsy E-8 pic from this forum after viewing my post and seeing those ads attached to my pic…I am looking for another Railpics type site without all those ads…

Dave -

Have you tried posting pics at rrpicturearchives.net? I’ve posted all my rejects from Railpictures on this site (along with others). It’s free and, overall, a good site. Give it a look and see what you think. Wherever you chose to post, let us know - I’d be interested in seeing pics of railroading in and around J-town/Altoona.

Is that part of Railpictures .net, or a separate site…I don’t want all those popup ads attached to my pic…such as Hooters Restaurants, or sites to find a mate…etc…

I found the rrpictures.net site and signed up for it…pending approval…I also signed up for the NEPics site but am perplexed in that I was supposed to get a verification e-mail to activate the account and it never came…I signed up for it over 8 hours ago and verified that my e-mail address was correct before submitting, and signed up a second time this morning, and still no e-mail…I’ll keep looking…

You got that right.
Allan.

I run firfox 1.0.7 on an Ubuntu operating system with anti popups (4), anti spyware (3), one firewall, and one heavily updated anti virus. I surf all day long visiting many sites, and the ONLY one that ever lights up my protection is railpictures.net. Even a popup or two gets through. So I just don’t go.

OK I signed up for a nerail account. Lets see if it works.
