Railroad music...what do you listen to?

[{(--)}] When you’re out railfanning, what’s are some of the tunes that keep you going? After that three hour train chase across a state, do you crank up the “Lovesick Blues”, or what? Keep it clean, clear, and of course, on topic. Discussion starts…now.[{(--)}]

It’s usually either Hank Williams Sr. or the beatles…ecclectic you say? Maybe. Good stuff though.

For me a little Lynard Skynard or Montgomery Gentry…hell yeah, turn it up, train horn (oh crap get the cam!)[:D]

Holst’s The Planets…not really everyones cup of tea but that happens in life.

Locomutt and I don’t have a vehicle. But we do have John Denver’s CD
entitled “Trains”.

I don’t really go and railfan. …however, alternative primarily (sublime, floggin molly, nirvana, stp, dave matthews, beastie boys, etc

…some classic rock
…some country
…some classical

…and some Jimmy Buffett

Does anyone know if there is a song “Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe” on CD? It has been discussed in the forum before.

Yes, Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics and Harry Warren the music for “On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe” which was featured in the film “The Harvey Girls” with Judy Garland and a lot of others. It’s on “The Harvey Girls” CD which I saw on the shelf at the music section of our Barnes & Noble bookstore.

well yeah, I guess we can widen it from just railfan music…what do you listen with trains, anywhere?

Im am mostly country, Garth Brooks, Chris LeDoux Tim McGraw, But I like others, some AC-DC, Flogging Molly, I think most of them have a song that mentions the railroad. But that is what I listen to while I chase Trains.

tuesdays gone by skynard or the metallica remake.long train runnin by by the dobbie brothers and other good songs that keep your foot moving on the gas.weeeeeeeeeeoooooooo(ooops) hi mr officer how are you? detective cinderdick?? hmmmmm.

I wonder if the railroad would get nervous with people listening to “bad to the bone” near their tracks.

Classic Rock & Roll baby!! Beatles, Stones, Zepplin and Clapton!!

Of course the daddy side of me listens to NPR and The Wiggles!!

“The Doctor”, and “Dangerous”, old old Dobie Brothers…( pre MacDonald)

Santana…just about anything he did…

Head East…most of their stuff, Granger Band to the max…

Mason William’s “Classical Gas” minus the back up,just him and his stick…

Fleetwood Mac…“Tusk”…

Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”…

And when I am hunting something…“Tubular Bells” just creepy enough to be fun!

In truth, I have around 1500 tracks on tape and disc…from Heavy Metal to Classical, some Jazz, lots of Rock.
Wife has a entire computer of nothing but Country, thats almost all that is on the machine, she keeps adding memory to cram more stuff on it…

I like anything, and genre with a driving beat…and a back beat.

That “cop” has a siren? A kazoo maybe. Make sure he keeps his hands in plain sight.

Music: How about Tom Petty/Runnin’ Down A Dream
New Order/True Faith
Roxy Music/More Than This
Pink Floyd/Run Like Hell

Upbeat modern jazz like Chuck Loeb and Jeff Kashiwa. The cool music reminds me of a passenger train cruising and clickey-clacking at speed!

“Music to sleep by” by the back fence yowlers!

Actually - I prefer a station that plays music from the 40’s through the 60’s. You know, the music that you could actually sing along with and could understand the words. Bet Modelcar will go along with me on this!

I agree, Slipknot all the way.
