Railroading in 2025: What do you want to see and where will you go?

I’m giving this whole forums participation a try, as I have not been an active contributor in the past. I enjoy railroads. I work, write, and photograph all things-trains. Normally this time of year we have a pretty good idea of what we are going to focus on next year, whether that be the industry side of the business (I come from sales), or on the flip side, how I want to spend my PTO (typically this, too, involves trains).

Without diving into any particular subject hardcore, what interests you about the rail industry (freight or passenger), going into 2025, and what plans do you have, if any, to spend trackside? Hoping this open-ended series of questions drives some momentum to the forums and I look forward in not only your feedback, but more engagement moving forward.

Cheers— and happy holidays.

The name sounds familiar … Hi!

Somehow it seems longer and longer and longer trains will become illegal. The will of the people will prevail. That will may become a major setback for Precision Scheduled Railroading, with a cause and effect situation resulting. When that happens, I don’t know what will happen.

As far as an actual site to see, I’ve always wondered where the Blue Mountains photo on TRAINS March 1968, page 46 was taken at, and how does one get there.

Probably a few trips to Rochelle maybe a trip to Galesburg.

No they won’t… Even without “PSR” longer freights would still be a thing… It was AC traction, and DPU that brought about longer trains.

I’ll probably take a few roadtrips to visit the Vermont, W&LE, R&N and the Union. Maybe a few daytrips to Fostoria and Deshler.
