RAPIDO'S AWESOME PASSENGER CARS!!!!!!!

Anyone seen these? They look sooooooo awesome!

They look great - if you are modeling one of the Canadian roads they are actual prototypes of. Some of those roadnames are pure fantasy. Kind of a throwback when things are trending towards being MORE accurate.

I like the Milwaukee Road and Northern Pacific. I agree they are generic. At $50 each MSRP I would of hoped for something more road specific.

kaching kaching kaching!!!

Way too expensive for my wallet.

Very nice for the price… They appear to beat Walthers hands down…

The bonus is the Pres of Rapido hinted he might do some New Haven stuff down the line…

He has my business!

It appears from the pictures that the duplex sleepers are a close approximation
of the GN’s River series 4-7-3-1 sleeping cars built for the 51 Empire Builder.
I shall give them a try-along with the Walthers EB of course.

Hmm. Ive my eye on it.

Still finishing up on the walthers heavy weight series. It took me a few years to put together and still waiting for the last few LOL.

I hate to see Rapido enter the HO world but they did buy out a belly-up HO manufacturer a while back, if I remember right, so guess this should not surprise me very much.

I think the staggered window sleeper was originally Milw. I know the full dome and 8 bedroom observation cars were Milw that went surplus when the Olympian Hiawatha was retired.

It sounds as if you may be confusing Rapido Trains, a new manufacturer based in Canada, with Arnold Rapido, the N scale manufacturer from Europe. They’re two entirely different companies.

The Canadian company chose its name based on the Rapido service offered by VIA Rail and, I believe, the Canadian National before it.

I am hoping to see some of these in my local area. A bit steep for my pocketbook right now, but ever so close, and I think the quality will be enough to force my hand to buy some.

The sleeper is ‘close’ for Milwaukee Road. The problem is that the Milwaukee cars have the vestibule at the other end of the car! These are Canadian cars are do look very nice from the pictures.

It’s not the passenger cars that interest me so much as the TURBOTRAIN!!![:D]

I’ll have my eye on the Turbotrain…And hopefully if my wish is granted, it will be built in N scale so that I may have a highspeed turbine for my railroad.[^]

Maybe it was on a different forum but I remember recently that someone pointed out that passenger cars vary so widely and are very railroad and time specific when looking at all their details. It would be virtually impossible for a model manufacturer to make passenger cars that were 100% accurate for all the railroads that we want cars for. The exceptions are those sets which have been made for certain high profile trains such as the “California Zephyr”.

In that light the new Rapido passenger cars are at least north american prototype and generally reflect the look of the cars of many U.S. railroads.

I’ll definantly be looking out for the UP coaches. Just what I need!

I have 3 of those in VIA colors on order. My hobby shop showed me a lot of pictures not seen in advertisement. They are awesome ! Nothing ready to run is more detailed than these. Should come in a few weeks.

Rapido Trains is a great company to deal with. I’ve bought a few of their LRC VIA Rail kits and was very impressed with the detail.

I’m waiting to get an undec sleeper to paing in BN’s executive scheme for my BNSF business fleet

I saw these passenger cars at the show yesterday. They are more detailed than some brass cars.
The air tanks have drains and the piping between the tanks even has pipe fittings on it.

At the show I also saw that the two new cars they are working on are - 10-5 sleeper and a bar-lounge car, Don’t know the prototypes.
