It’s 59F and clear heading for a record breaking heat in the low 90’s; yesterday we just missed breaking the record high.
News on the Bunny front. We now have seen two babies but the neighbors got serious and have so far trapped the mother and one of the babies last night. They hope they can catch the other baby today and the drop off the whole family down at the park along the canal.
It’s 57 and cloudy, needs to change some if it’s going to reach the predicted 70s. As you have already read we had a good chat group last night and my dance card for today is empty. I am thinking White Castle though, we need some new odors in the house…[swg].Enjoy the day.
Welp, tracking another package from RMT - should be here by end of day tomorrow. Hope they have more “Spring Cleaning” sales - getting some good stuff at great prices. Got 2 Bopper sets and a Halloween Caboose this time around.
Looks like upper 70’s with thunderstorms today - same as yesterday, same thing tomorrow. Okay, better than mid-80’s, which is what we’re expecting for Memorial Day weekend.
Need to make arrangements to do a train setup for Corey’s class this week. Did it last year when he was in kindergarten. May try to do it for Tyler’s class, although I’m not sure how jaded 3rd graders will be about it.
Jack I got accused of picking on Kev I wouldn’t do that and you know it [:-^][(-D]
Well after some playing and talking to sj I figured out every thing on the switches and by time I get this all done I think this is really going to be neat. I found some minuture drawf block signals which I think will actually be a lot closer to scale size and there only like $3 each and push buttons for controlling the switches for as little as .47 each and can get them in red and green but need to buy in sets of one color and 15 of them at a time but thats fine with me the drawf signals is sets of 4.
Well not much else going on here today checking out the motors for the switches checked one last night and it was good so about to go check the rest.
Good morning. It’s 78° and partly cloudy. The high will be 92°.
First order of business today was to pick up a MKT tank car and three LS&W hoppers from the SW spur in Sundown then cut out four tank cars and spot them on the spur. Then a change of motive power from the GP38 and SD27J to the F7A/F3B/F3B. Later I’ll run the Trainmaster and U30EM645 to check that the electrical repairs made yesterday are what was needed. I also need to do a general cleanup on the work area.
Mornin’ boys. Mornin’ English. Overcast and 60’s here in the Mid-Atlantic region. FifeMax is on the hot-seat. Likes to chew up littlest princess’s sandals… Wifey won’t let me “correct” him. Her way isn’t working too well… Oldest boy is interviewing with CSX (labor side).
KRM - I trust you knew what I meant…[;)]
cheapclassics - Read somewhere that Andretti Racing may be dipping a big toe into NASCAR, with partnership from Dodge.
My new dog at last new year I caught in the act peeing in the house and hollered at her loudly, scared her and she was housebroken from that time on.
There was another beating at Dodger stadium 4 arrested. Also Gloria Allred is getting sued. I don’t know how much she is in national news but many people here despise her.
My probably illegal alien neighbor does all kinds of handyman work. Everytime I hire him I vow never again. Anyhow he brings all kinds of odd junk home. Sunday he had a homemade industrial small truck with a model T or model A motor. Really unique, a shame that he scrapped it, but it would be hard to find the one person who would want it. I wish posting pictures wasen’t so impossible but it was gone when I got home from church anyway.
My best friend is a true gun nut, he go’s to a gun auction regularly, a 1 hr. drive there and 2 hrs back due to traffic to get auction catalog. He is completely computer illeterate and has access to his neighbors computer but his neighbor was at work. Over the phone I was able to guide him through the auction site to the auction catalog. Its a big catalog takes half a day to go through but he was really grateful and made me feel good. I was lucky, kind of the blind leading the really blind.
This has probably been said at least a dozen times in here in fact I seemed to remember hearing somewhere but it never clicked I see I’m going to have some soldering wires with these switches as the center rail doesn’t carry load from end to end like Lionel/MTH switches do but thats going to make it more fun. just need to realize these are going to be set in place and not movable basically as the wires need holes underneath them to go under the board lol.
This is going to be a nice learning experience I’m looking forward to. I guess best way is to get track in place drill hole threw plastic and board and run wire down and solder it to middle rail then when all is where you want it.
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. I have heard of Andretti possibly adding NASCAR. Has not worked too well for Penske/ Ganassi so who knows. Not sure if I see them running Dodge and tcking Chevy off in Indycar as Chevy has the dominant engine so far. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Fife, [angel] for the CSX candidate. My son works for Chiefs favorite railroad in the Juniata Shops boiler house. I attribute that to some “Special” help from the Pot when he needed a job.
Probe Congas on the certification. RE my last post I’d definitely talk to the dealer about the brakes.
Done with Gravel for today. We only got 3 loads. Cripes, we were the only truck in the place and it takes the loader operator 15 min to show up to load a 6 ton trailer. [8o|] Got to be a Union plant. [Y]
We will shoot for 4 loads tomorrow. [*-)]
Off to get new spark plugs, oil and filters for the Dakota and wifey’s car. [:-^]
RT Me too on the dwarf lights I would like to see them. The Lionel are a bit big. [^o)]
Fifedog, I am cool where you were coming from. Some others my have got lost in the feeding frenzy. [dinner] [oX)]
Good morning all, slow day so far. Start prep for colonoscopy tomorrow so last day I can eat. Having steak tonight on the grill.
#2 son got home safely from car race near Monterey last night.
Been walking in the park in the mornings lately to get shade on warm days. There is a 12 step group that meets there every morning. Only problem is we have to walk past them on each lap around the park and a lot of them are smokers so we have to go through that even though there are no smoking signs at the park. However, have to cut them some slack because I know they are dealing with bigger problems. Just have to get over there before their meeting starts.
Chief, hope your little pup doesn’t do pee pee on your bed.[:-^]
Sunny and headed for 90’s this weekend. Seasonal but not entirely welcome. Had a great spring season here. No rain in sight - hope that is not the story for the summer.
Youngest passed another milestone on the path to Graduation next week. [Y]
Evening all not much going on here tonight. I put a little test section together with the switches I got just can’t run the engine across tham yet as need to figure a temporary process for powering middle rails after the first switch. at least I’m now able to do a little switching opperations lol. Yeah getting the itch.
Oh the guy I been talking to told me he now has 10 left switches and 4 right switches and looking to make sure he has motors for each of them. And he has some odd legnths of gargraves track.
I ordered 1 set of 4 drawf signals ( I believe if I did my caculations right there about 4/5 of an inch. ) 1 set of 15 momentary push button switches with red tops and a set with green tops so it will be 30 buttons in all just enough to tap them to get the switches to go one way or the other.
When I get the drawf signals in I will determine if I want more or not but I believe they will be right at scale hights and be great for the layout.
Thanks for the congrats on the cert. Thinking about calling Brady’s to order the upcoming MTH Pennsy Turbine as a reward.[swg]
Banks,
I would’ve contacted the dealer, but he didn’t seem too ethical or honest if you get my drift. If I call about brake shoes, I’d probably end up with cement shoes.[#oops]
The new shoes, hardware kit, spindle nuts, and wheel cylinder were only $45 with shipping, so not really a big deal. I’ll rebuild the original cylinder in place because I don’t want to touch the steel line connected to it.
Probe - Have you tried Rock Auto? I usually compare them to Advanced Auto…and advance has coupons on line…saved myself some cash by “shopping” as it were…
Kev - Just brakin’ chops…and pilin’ on…Love ya, Buddy [tup] [swg]
Man, I’m beat…gonna lay down for a bit before I have to retrieve the Princess at 10 PM…
Don’t get me wrong here. BUT, The union guys everyone seems to have issues with these days are the same guys holding up the pay scale for all of the non- union slugs on the backs of the union guys that brought the pay up to the point it is today. Paid the price with work and strife in strikes. All of the right to work guys only get what they get because of the work the union workers have done and worked for. JMHO
How many of you out there would rather be paid union scale or scab scale???
Something that has been going on for the last 20 years.
Hope I have not crossed the line with this but it is something to think about.
