Good evening guys. Was a good day. Even with assassins at every turn, we got the work done. Kids had a great day at school, then we all headed to violin practice. They are doing well with it, but the summer can be a chore to keep them at it.
Regarding unions, they do have a place, but do not have the need they once filled. Before such regulations and groups like OSHA, work conditions could be horrible. Unions helped keep employers in line. If it were not for unions, many cities would cut the fire service to dangerous levels, gambling lives for a budget. On an opposing point, they highlighted a factory in Ohio the other night that was one of the most efficient in the auto industry. A few miles away, is a factory that consistently worked in the red and was poorly managed. When Government Motors made the deals with the union bailout, they forced the efficient factory closed and poured the money and production to the poorly run factory. The reason, the factory that was closed had joined the wrong union that didn’t get the bailout, and since the bailed out union had control of GM’s organization, they made the call.
Well, tonight is the finale for American Idol. We do not have network TV, but are pulling for the hometown favorite, Phillip Phillips. I better go check things out as my bride wants to know how it turned out.
I thought about contacting OSHA due to the numerous health and safety issues I faced on a daily basis, but I never contacted them. Went through some scary situations over those six months.
Made the journey to Brady’s in Greensburg to get the Turbine. Had to take the Mustang since the 97 Probe was in for inspection. I-70 was white knuckle the whole way, and I managed to take up about three parking spaces.[swg]
I can’t say enough good about John and his staff. Great people is an understatement. The Turbine looks to be very gently used with only contact marks on the rollers. All the original packaging is still with it.
The battery is dead though, and I never even thought about it until I got home.[banghead] Not a big deal. I’ll pull the boiler and put some fresh grease in the gearbox since what is in there is likely 13 years old.
Well its done [to a point]. Flooring is down. Not screwed down but down. Tongue and groove so locked down and tight to the walls. Molding up, calked and painted.
Chief: The box is looking great. There’s only one itty bitty thing wrong with it. No layout.
Time for me to call it a night. The Frankenstein F unit trio, the GP38/SD27J and the Trainmaster/U30EM645 teams all got run today. Tomorrow I’ll give the GP7’s a run and I may bring out the old Atlas GP40’s. See y’all tomorrow.
Thanks guys. Chuck, wall to wall layout. Will have track around the wall, sections in the middle coming out from both ends. Only an entrance and then isles to get to sections.
Laz - that would be hilarious! I wish I could do it! I’m just going to document everything this guy says or does to me or around me and see where this goes. I know for a fact that the boss talked to him today as he actually said something about it as I was leaving for the day. He put his hand on my shoulder and asked me in a real smarmy voice if he had aggravated me too much today. Well, not up until that moment. What a whackdoodle.
TARDIS is ready and we have lemon icecream as well as banilla - let’s hit it Mike!
Mornin’ boys. A wet, foggy 68 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Thought I spotted a wanted felon from VA last night. Turned out not to be him, but my doodle was wanted anyway in our jurisdiction. …and when you look like an wanted felon from VA, best not to be toting cannibus…[D)]
Chief - Nice. You’ve certainly come a long way since the carpet central. [Y]
