Re: O.T. (sort of) Exxon/Mobil and Venezuala

Thank you for clearing that up. Some people jump on board with these internet boycotts without doing any research and have know idea what they are talking about. It reminds me of “don’t buy gas on a certain day” boycott. Complete rubbish.

Regardless of the finite specifics previously noted above, I would still like to suggest nobody support (even if it amounts to just a little support) Venezuela by buying Citgo. However, the much bigger issue is utilization of rail transportation to reduce energy consumption in our country (along with many other ways of reducing our use of energy overall).

Hu Jintao has had some not so nice things to say about the US (not to mention his track record with human rights), so we better start boycotting everything out of China as well.

a google report on that company [Tesoro] does not show it with any stations in Illinois or Wisconsin.Mostly in the west

Would anyone happen to know how much energy the US military used during 2007 transporting men and equipment between the USA and Iraq ?

Fair and valid question, but since this thread seemingly is continuing to venture far off the intended “track” (pardon the pun), I am going to suggest we let it drop. I originally intended this thread to be on the general subject of the U.S. and all Americans becoming energy self sufficient and did NOT intend to have it become a thread related to politics or bashing of the war in Iraq (the management of which I am not personally happy with…now that the subject has come up). Shall we drop this thread or keep on going down the established slippery and irreversible slope that we seem to be on now?
