I couldn’t locate the thread about striping Kato N scale shells recently so I will just start another. After I got over the “I am going to destroy the shell” feeling, I left my AC4400CW shell in Pinesol for about two and a half days straight. I took it out and used a stiff toothbrush and easily brushed off the dark blue paint. Other than the stink, it did a great job. I did not see any ill effect on the shell. I will be repainting soon as my order gets here. Peter
Wash with hot water and blue Dawn to eliminate odor.
really leary about using cleaning products to strip shells, although I have done it. The manufactures are constantly changing the formula either to comply to new regulations or to make it work better or cheaper. Even if it worked before it may not work this time,or worse, dissolve the shell. Brush a little on the inside & let it sit for a while.
