Realizing I’ve stated this on the other thread a week after Mr. Harmon posted it I thought I had to reply to Mr. Harmon’s post.
If anyone can give me one last thought to solve my Big Boy pick up problem please tell me, or it’s the graveyard for 4005[:0] or Maybe a Super Eight 4-8-6!
It has been repowered, unfortunately the old gal still bumps, grinds, burps and jerks! I have hauled it apart, stripped it, cleaned it and discovered that old Rivarossi power pick ups are less then adequate, the number of contact points are primitive (Flintstone like). I also discovered that because of BB’s weight distribution that it doesn’t want to climb hills as the wheels don’t seem to flow into the transition areas with ease. I’d show you a picture of what I’m thinking of doing with the wheel sets but I’m still setting up a web page. The BB might be turned into scale anchors for my scale Fleet of Trans Atantic Steamers[:0]
