Great technique, lousy subject. When he grows up he’ll make a good model railroader, and if he doesn’t grow up, well McDonald’s always needs “fry guys”.
It is a good idea. I’ve already seen derailments modeled, complete with spilled chemicals and burned-out cars. I’ve seen traffic accidents done with police guiding traffic and body bags being lifted into morgue wagons. There’s a European manufacturer out there that makes an assortment of naked figures in various positions for use in you-know-what.
I’m okay with all these things why? They are reality. They happen. That’s what we’re here to model, Reality. Not a fantasyland, not paradise, but the gritty, black, (at times) sordid reality we live in. We might not like parts of that reality, and we might decide to deviate our models from it to reflect our dislikes, but we are in no position to criticize those who want to model what’s actually outside the window as opposed to what’s inside our heads.
i dont see a problem with this site it is staright forward nothing with graffiti in genral just decals and stickers, stay on topic or dont come in the topi.
QUOTE>>>>>> Another way to add realism to a modern layout would be to model the scene of a fatality after a graffiti vandal gets struck and killed by a train. You could feature the police cleaning up the mess, the ambulance crews treating the traumatised train crew, and the passengers waiting hours for alternate transport to eventually get home. All of this would add a profound sense of realism…<<<<<<QUOTE
my father is a conductor for NS and he said he never had to worry about hiiting or seeing a graffiti writer our a gang member he allways saw railroad BUFFS out on the track trying to take pictures, and he saw a mom and her kids in the back of a van trying to beet the signal.
EVERYONE STAY ON TOPIC or dont COME IN, if you have graffiti on your trains take a pice and put it on this topic[:D] thanx
Nothing in particular. What comes to mind are peoples’ names, gang names, and locations like cities, parks, etc… Can’t go wrong with the obligatory “West Side”
I plan to use word or phrases that are “inside jokes” to friends or other people who might know me. For example, even something geeky in graffiti (geeky graffiti?) like “VOIP” or “TCP” or “SCSI” on a freight car would get a chuckle from someone who knows computers.
Ah, but to make it really authentic, RAVE needs to sneek into your house, “tag” one of your favorite cars (perhaps one that won a blue ribbion at the last NMRA show) - painting it with nonsensical jibberish than only he and his dememted friends can understand. And then, if you have the audacity to get upset with him, he will claim it is “art”.[#oops]
Graffiti is only “art” when it happens to someone else.
