RE watching trains

Hi railfan69 I got your message trains come threw pretty offten but. I rarely have time to get down to the tracks before to much traffic shows up by the tracks. In fact we get a train threw here alot in fact i would say 2or3 every hour some. Are short little putts putts and others are full blown frieghts with every kind of car you can imange. One more question how offten do trains come though with only one type of car. Say just like tank cars or a train of flat cars. [#offtopic][4:-)]

I’m envious of you railfan619 you get more action than I ever will over here in the great state of Pennsylvania!!! Sometimes I’ll be lucky if I see three trains in a time spand of 4 hours.

welcome to the forums.depends what time of day.we have ups trains on csx(usually lead by up diesels) and powder river trains lead by up or bnsf diesels.from what I’m hearing csx is sharing more power with bnsf than up but that can change at any time.

Here on the Union Pacific line it sees just about everything execpt Eastbound loaded coal trains because the UP don’t want them to stall on the Blair hill. But they do run VERY HEAVY Westbound Grain loads up the Blair hill from Sioux City,Iowa.
Allan.

I grew up on UP’s Marysville Sub and I was back in Marysville, KS last fall and there was a train coming through town about every 20 minutes. I was told 80 to 90 trains run through aday. If anyone gets a chance I recommend checking out the action you won’t regret it.

BNSF railfan: Where is the Blair Hill? As I recall, coming up from the south, the landscape is very hilly. Going east toward the interstate it looks fairly flat. Is the hill, or hills toward the west? I’m guessing that is an old CNW track?
