I’ve actually encountered more immature replies from people my age and older than from the younger generations in my time here on this site.[;)]
no offense to adults but I agree with VSmith. The worst “offenders” seem to be the adults [:D] Luckly everyone in the CTT forums are pretty nice.

I remember when I first joined the forum. I thought I was always being pointed out because I was young. But, that was not the reason at all. The reason was because I thought I knew everything there was to know. The great people on this forum helped me to be a better communicator (if thats a word?). They warmed to me when I calmed down, and we all have a great relationship now.
So, you are not being pointed out.
I’m without question the most immature poster on this forum and no one makes those kinds of remarks to me. They just ignore me and hope I’ll go away. But every morning I’m right back here again.
There have been several notable young posters here that I recall. Jerrylovestrains and Ben10ben may be young, but they know their stuff. It’s always a pleasure and an education discussing things with them. Colin posts a lot on the coffee pot thread. No one seems to care how old he is.
So I really don’t see the age thing being an issue here. If you contribute something worthwhile, you will be treated with respect. If you contribute worthless nonsense (like I do), you will largely be ignored or told to shape up.

Don’t take it too personally. It is just how people in general interact. Older people will often point out a younger person’s age mostly to identify the conversation at that level. We don’t expect a younger person to have the experiences and insight that we do, but there are some exceptions as mentioned, Ben10Ben, Jerrylovestrains, Colin, etc. These young men are often the guys who will jump in with some great answers to questions from older folks. These are exceptions. If you were to dive into your trains with the enthusiasm of some others, you will gain much knowledge and then it will be your turn to pass it along.
You should be proud of your age. As you mature, instead of it being an excuse that people give you for how you act or what you say and do, it will eventually be a footnote that people add to how you act and what you say and do. “Can you believe he knows so much? And believe it or not, he is only 15”. In the end, it is not what people say or think about you, it is how you react.

Im 21 and haven’t had a problem. I’ve added my “two cents” here and there but mostly am asking questions. I like this forum because there are people (older than me) on here that have been in the hobby for a lot longer than me and know a lot more. I think ( heres my two cents again) that when young people go on here and argue on topics it rubs older people the wrong way. Its like when my 10 year old brother tried to tell me that Mariano Rivera sinks and never was anything special… Darn kids!!

Thanks Don - you are not the only one of that opinion. The more posts I see about this, the more attention is drawn to the fact that MagicMan is a teen!
