I am just curious if anyone has any pics and how they built an HO or N scale Real Water Waterfall…from 1 litre to 1 gallon of water…just have an idea and looking for some input…

Saw one at the Fort Worth WGH Show back in March. It was a conventionally modelled waterfall using Water Effects or something similar, but it then had real water flowing over top. I took some pics but they don’t really do it justice.

I’d like to see pictures of that too. I have always wondered if some combination of fake water and real water might produce a decent effect even though real water by itself just doesn’t cut it in the model. If someone can make a good looking water scene with fake water, but then add real water to give it motion, what would it look like?

That would look really cool! I would like to see one! I heard of one, but I don’t remember where…
I personally would not let any water near my layout. Just think water and expensive electronics wouldn’t mix well.
My problem is that real water just doesn’t ‘scale-down’ well. It looks okay on a Garden railroad, but for something as small as HO, everything I’ve seen is really ‘toy’ like.
And just to see how ‘fake’ real water can look, all you have to do is watch an old Classic ‘seafaring’ movie with model ships in a tank. Usually looks like floating a toy boat in your bathtub, LOL!

Wellll…I don’t think I’ll chance the Real Waterfall and have a disaster on my hands …but have made a sort of base and have a small cutout underneath a bridge…it will be extending approx 16" to my wall and rise approx 18"…question is how do I make a small waterfall realistic…"using a mirror and tape cut into strips…not sure how that would look…any pointers would be great…

I was thinking about a creek on my layout,but were i was gonna put it my trains lik to take plunges so thats a bad i dea bill winkle has one though i’ve seen it.
It’s been my experience that real water on a layout just doesn’t look like water.
