Does anyone know what kind of rechargable batteries can be used for the lighting in the USA Trains Caboose. I lost the instructions.

I have a regular 9 volt battery in one of my cabooses . I use the caboose often and the battery is still going strong after a few months . I don’t think its rechargeable . The other USA caboose I have doesn’t even have a battery in it so it only lights up when the train is moving under track power .
unless you are leveing the lights on 24/7 you can buy a 8pack of 9v batterys at one of the wharehouse stores for less then the cost of rechargeables. I installed some LEDs in MDC caboose about 5-6years ago used 2 aa’s to power them and they still work when turned on.
I tried using a 9Volt but because the USA Trains have a builtin charging circuit this does not work. The internal lights don’t light at all even when placed on the powered track. I had to remove the battery. I did notice that the battery got very hot.
As a retired battery Guru my advice is that unless youare a masochist don’t have any batteries unless you have too.
