I don’t have a lot of room, so when they published the Red Oak Layout, I knew this was what I had been looking for. I wanted a layout that I could enjoy by my self and also share with two or three others. Also there will come a time in the near future where wife and I may have to move into a Senior Living Community and will no longer have a lot of room. So I collected all the issues of the magazine and watched all the video’s about constructing the layout. I also decided not to make an exact replica. I am adding some track, moving some items around, and etc but you can still see the orginal design. Anyone that is building this layout, I would welcome any discussion.
While I don’t model “N” the very least I can do is say, [#welcome] to the forum.

Welcome to the forums. Since you are going to be going through a building/development project why not start a thread on your experiences as you build. That way you can get input at the various stages of the build. There was a recent thread on building the Virginian layout which was very interesting to follow.

Thank you for welcoming me. Attached are some pictures of the layout as it stands today. I just finished laying the interchange track. Since I am going to use DCC as my control system, I decided to split the layout into four zones. The two hidden staging tracks is zone one, the Interstage staging tracks is zone two, the track and branchs off the staging track is zone three, and the front mainline and yard is zone four. This will prevent one person accidently shorting the track, shutting down the entire layout. Also I decided to remove the farm and install two more industries with branch lines. These will come off the branch line that extends off the front yard. I added a small brach off the main staging yard, so that I would have a programming track and engine storage.
I noticed that my picture does not display. What am I doing wrong?

If your pictures are only on your harddrive I don’t think you can post them here.
Your pictures need to be on the somewhere on the internet. If you can see your pictures on a website you can right click on the image and then click ‘copy’. Then simply paste it into your post by making sure the curser is in the section where you enter your post and right click paste, or use the paste icon, or ctrl+v
