I am looking for a reliable source to buy used brass HO steam locos.
I had some business with Caboose Hobbies in Denver, and was very happy with their service and pricing. Is there any other source around, other than Ebay?

Many years ago I purchased several used brass engines from The Caboose, in Wolcott, CT. They still advertise in MRR. Items were fairly priced and accurately represented. Perhaps other members have dealt with them. Since they are still in business, some 20 years later, I would assume they are still a good company. Their website is www.thecaboose.com
I stopped in and visited the caboose while driving home to New Hampshire about 2 years ago. The owner of the store gave me a very nice tour of his shop as well as the service area where you can have your brass engine repaired. The store is actually located in behind the owner’s private house in a very modernized “old” New England style barn. The store was very clean and organized and the people working there were very pleasant to talk with. I have purchased several brass locomotives from the Caboose and highly encourage anyone to check them out.

I highly recommend The Caboose (www.thecaboose.com) for fair price and outstanding service. I bought an Overland Models about 2 months ago and i received the loco in the UK within 48 hours and shipped in great packaging.
Here are three links to companies I like:

I have done business with each of them and have been fully satisfied. Also I endorse the businesses mentioned in the earlier posts, as well.

Hi Ulrich,
Try Dan’s Train Depot in Ocala, Florida.
He also sell on ebay. I have been to his store as well as buying from him over the net.
He is very knowledgable and so are his staff.
They are honest and upright in all their dealings. Shipping is well taken care of as well.
No, I am not related in any way, other than a satisfied customer.
go to WWW.brasstrains.com
Johnboy out…
Ulrich:
Well, because of the railroads I model (D&RGW/SP), most of my used brass locomotives are from Caboose Hobbies in Denver.
However, I have bought several used brass locomotives from Peach Creek Shops(www.peachcreekshops.com) in Laurel, MD, and found them to be a very reputable company. Their emphasis seems to be more on eastern and midwestern railroads, but their inventory is usually pretty good and their prices generally quite reasonable. You might want to Google them up and look through their selection and prices.

The Original Whistle Stop in Pasadena, CA usually has a large selection of locomotives on consignment.
There is only one guy in my O/P and thats Jan Willard of Mt. Airy Maryland his site is HO Steam Central,
He is not only very fair in his pricing he is a man of his word. If he tells you your locomotive will be ready on such and such a date you can set your watch by it.He not only sells brass but repairs paints and retrofits DCC.
Howard Zane has him do all his brass work exclusively that a good enough of endorsement for me.
