Remote Operations

I’m been working on this project for a long time now… and I’m coming to a point of expiation if the idea.

In the mean time you can try my project out…

You can operate a locomotive on my layout, live, remotely (across the internet) from this graphics user interface.

The graphics user interface show control from the inside of a locomotive cab, complete with a live video from a camera inside the locomotive.

Now you are the engineer!

Go as fast as you want, slow, forward, backward, activate the bell horn, sanger, dynamic brake, automatic brakes, independent brakes, lights.

If you are lucky and I’m in the ‘train room’, I would like to be your conductor, and we can do some switching.

Try the GUI out. http://canadianlocomotivelogistics.ca:22080/web/webThrottle.html?loconame=1

Let me know how you fared.

here is a screen shot for my computer…

Did you have any problems operating the locomotive remotely on my Layout?

It’s never perfect

Has anyone else try this out?

This is an extraordinary piece of work. I’ve been too nervous to actually try it out, but it is something I’ve wanted to see done for some time: a model interface that operates precisely as the prototype does.

during covid we did some remote operation using JMRI engine driver and using a GUI that indicated the train position on the layout (i.e. CTC)

We had someone posting in the ‘last throes’ of the old forum, who worked for NASA and had worked out in some detail exactly how to simulate ‘real railroad’ operation at the trains. That would be a counterpart to an interface like the one you have developed.

I actually updated the software and I made a new video outlining instructions on how to operate a locomotive on my Layout remotely.

It’s a little bit long 24 minutes I believe but it goes over everything how to control it speed brakes you name it

This should explain everything to you, and after that, you’ll realize how easy it is.

I would encourage you to try it. You cannot break anything.

New features are being added every day.
