So, we have a Lionel ZW and also a TW transformer. But we are needing to know if a remote will work with the Lionel Nickel Plate Road NKP LC+ 2.0 Bershire Steam Engine #759 O Guage? If so, is there a specific remote?
Welcome aboard, @WatsonTrainStation!
Is it this one: Nickel Plate LionChief Plus 2.0 Berkshire #759 ?
You don’t state what features you are hoping to be able to access with the remote. For simplest operation, the LionChief universal remote is probably the cheapest physical remote option, and it’s not bad. If you already have (or plan to purchase in the future) and additional LC engines, you can use this remote to control up to three engines at one time.
As the catalog copy for the engine states, you can always go the app route, these have Bluetooth capability that will work with any modern Smart Device, no additional hardware required. Some people (myself included ) don’t like operating trains via a phone or tablet however.
There are higher end remote options, but for a LC2.0 (which does not have some of the more advanced features of Legacy), it is probably overkill (and costly).
Using what is known as a CAB-2 is an option with either a Legacy 990 base or a newer unit known as the “Base 3”. But if you don’t already have any of this hardware, it is a big expense just to control one engine. (The CAB 2 is no longer produced and fetches significant money on the secondary market).
If you do decide you want something “in between”, you can look at the CAB 1L and Base 1L combination,. Still a lot more expensive than the LC Universal remote, but no where near as costly as a Legacy Control setup that you really don’t need for a LC+ 2.0 engine.
