replacing tender on P2K 2-8-8-2

I have a N&W version of the P2K 2-8-8-2 that i’ve kit bashed to approximate a BR&P engine. As part of that, i’d like to replace the tender with a Bachmann long tender. I was wondering if anyone had done this and are there any issues with doing something like that? Thanks, Jason Weibel.

They did make a long tender version of that Y3 not sure if you can buy it from walthers or not but it may be worth a shot.

I tried looking for that, but haven’t been able to find one. Also, i already had a Bachmann long tender lying around. So, i would like to try using that one. Mainly, i am wondering if there’s anything strange about the wiring, or if there’s anything different about the wiring. Both tenders are DCC ready, so i’m hopeful that as long as i connect what appear to be the same wires i should be fine. Unfortunately, they use different connectors, so i can’t just simply and easily swap one tender for the other and i’ll have to change connectors on one, or the other. Thanks, Jason.

Even though the cab connections MAY be the same I would just do a complete swap out of the Proto board plugs etc. in to the Bachmann tender. I would like to believe that sort of wiring would be standardized too just like decoder wiring but I guess the only way you would know for sure is to place the two boards with connectors side by side and ring the connections out with a meter.Swapping the boards sound a heck of a lot simpler.
