Replacing Weller soldering gun tip?

I have an old Weller soldering gun (100w) model 8100B. It heats fine, but the tip is of course kind of mangled by now and I’d like to replace it. Neither at stores or on the internet can I find one for the 8100B. Would I be able to use the replacement Weller gun tips I tend to see in the stores or catalogs… or would this not work?
Appreciate your help!

Hal

In short, yes. I have an ancient weller gun and a modern one. Both work fine with the new tips.

You can also make an emergency tip from a length of bare solid copper wire of 12 to 10 gauge. It will burn out relatively quickly but will get you through an energency tip burnout.

Be careful using a soldering gun around small connections. It generates far too much heat.
they are great for DCC bus wires and heavy connections.

Here’s a place that shows your tip as not being available from Weller any more. I did a Google search on '8100B Weller". I have never heard of this place before I did the Google search so I can’t comment on them as a vendor.

I have an old weller soldering station and this is the first place that actually listed tips for my ancient iron. give them a try www.all-spec.com

I have an old Weller 8200. I found replacement tips at Ace Hardware of all places.

This is a Close Out sale item and not available from the manufacture.

The above is a cut and paste for the tip you need. This is from the link that Lee678 posted.

Thanks everyone for the quick response. I have placed an order at the Ross distributors for the close out Weller tip.

Try Radio Shack for the good copper tips that should work
