Resetting a loco

I have a loco that worked yesterday but after playing around with the different CVs it fails to move today. any suggestions on resetting it or how to get it moving again?

If you could be more discriptive of the type of loco

Brand name

Type of decoder

etc the folks here could be more helpful

Sorry,

Bachmann/Spectrum F7 A/B units

Its the B unit that won’t move.

I’m not sure what type of decoder, but I want to say its a digitrax one

If it is a Digitrax decoder, set CV8=8.

It is a VERY good idea to keep some sort of a list of what loco has what decoder. Different decoders have different reset CVs.

You didn’t mention the manufacturer. The following are the resets for the various decoders as I know them. If its a Digitrax decoder setting CV8 to 8 will reset the decoder. A Lenz, CV8 to 33. NCE CV30 to 2. LokSound CV8 to 8. TCS CV8 to 8 or CV30 to 2. Soundtraxx DSDLC, DSX CV30 to 2. Tsunami CV8 to 8. MRC CV125 to 1. In all cases the address will return to 03.

Some of the MRC decoders require a different reset. I can’t find my old sheet right now.

Hope this helps.

Bachmann uses Lenz decoders in there “DCC Onboard” locos. I have reset them in the past unfornunately I do not recall the CV to reset or the value needed.

Someone else here I’m sure knows the values.

Bill 54 is right. Bachmann “DCC On Board” decoders are low cost Lenz decoders. To reset the decoder to factory specs set CV8 to 33.
