Resistors with Soundtraxx 1100

Hi. I am going to be undertaking a progect soon. I am installing dcc and sound in a walthers ML-8. I am using a TSU 1100 decoder from soundtraxx. Will I need resistors for the LED’s? Their website says that some of their decoders need 1k ohm 1/4 watt resistors, and others are LED friendly. I could’nt find an answer regarding the 1100 model. Because space is so tight it would be ideal to wire directly, but I can use resistors it if I have too. Input is greatly appreciated.

Also, Im Using SMD leds if that makes a difference.

Page 18 of the Tsunami 2 Installation Guide shows 12v to head/rear and Fx3 & 4 lights so I would say yes.

I’ve not worked with SMD but I recall comments that they are brighter than standard LED’s and people are using resistors of 2K and higher.

I use 2K for headlights and about 5 to 8K resistors for class lights.
