hehehe, Im Back folks! After a Year long hiatus from the forums, I have returned! Ed Cooper found me on Facebook and convinced me to come back. I have grown my interests and I am currently a big fan of the Respondek Rail Corp.
The Respondek Rail Corp has purchased two former CNW SD40-2s, 6813 and 6923. Both are currently in UP Dress as UP 2962 and UP 3086. The 2962 still has the CNW Nose Bell, and there it will stay. Supposedly, these units will be dressed up in a Illinois Terminal Type Paint scheme.
The Respondek owns 25 Units, 24 of them are EMD, and 1 GE. They operate one of the Rarest locomotives in the United States, a Former Seaboard Air Line SDP35, this unit is now Squaw Creek Southern 11 (A Respondek Subsidary.)

2nd how can they be railfan friendly when they dont own no rails They are no more than a rail service like herzog. Herzog does maintanace of way work and these guys do Switching. Guys who been working years finally getting senority to work some great local and plant jobs and these scabs cut throat and do away with our jobs.

Wabash I hate to tell you this. BUT OUTSOURCING is a way OF INDUSTRY anymore. Otherwise we as a Nation would HAVE NO MANUFACTURING PLANTS LEFT. UNIONS have priced themseleves out of the labor Market. Ever wonder what was the Reson GM and Chrylser went under LABOR COSTS. When it costs them 70 Bucks an hour for wages and Benefits compared to Honda or Toyotas 40 Bucks an hour who is going to have a better year have more to spend on better equipment for the cars and also lower COSTS.
Same thing in the OTR Indsutry YRC has lost 2 Billion in the last 2 years and is still bleaching itself WHITE the UNION THE IBT refuses to lower costs for the Company yes they bought some time by a bondholder swap however that gave them 3 months MAX from what I am hearing. Unions can not go to mangement and freaking demand 10% wage increases year after year without KILLING A COMPANY. So What if this guy is NON UNION HIS EMPLOYEES HAVE TO MEET ALL THE SAME FRA STANDARDS AS EVERYONE ELSE DOES. THING IS THEY JUST DO NOT LOOK AT A JOB AND SAY THAT IS NOT MY JOB WHEN A BOARD IS BLOCKING THEM FROM FINISHING A SWITCH UNLIKE A UNION MAN WHO WOULD TIE UP THE RR UNTIL A LABORER WAS LOCATED AND BROUGHT IN TO MOVE IT. Do not laugh I had a Union Steel Worker refuse to move his crane because a 4X4 was blocking his path for 14 hours he got paid he refused to let me move it NOT MY JOB WAS HIS ANSWER. Took that long to get a freaking Laborer off a break and over to us to move it 6 inches to get that coil that was needed to NOT SHUT A PLANT DOWN LOADED. US Steel had to pay one HELL OF PENALTY TO THAT PLANT. IIRC 100K Per 10 Mins times 14 HOURS all over a stupid Union worker that would not move a piece of WOOD.
I have to agree , Respondek Rail Corp is filling a need in the market , and many Union Rules are very restrictive . This is the way of the future and there are many good companies

As for the labour thing—I just hope there won’t be a race to the bottom here----both on the forum and in the labour field.
There really needs to be another way to do things and if this is one way then let it be—at least the dang jobs are where they are and you’re not seeing more unemployed people—like that’ll help.[sigh]
I find it very funny that you can state your opinion and not let me state mine. If the truth hurts then change it. To say tht you want to ban me is very childish on your part. You say he is a very good friend and it hurts when i say things about him , How about the fact he is tring to steel my job am i not allowed to say somethig about that. yes i will and in my own words. go ahead and hit the abuse button its not the first time its happened to me. Ed Benton I know about out sourcing this guy has made it his goal to go everywhere and price his way in to buisness. He went to this one plant and priced the job so cheap that the company doesnt send men to unload trains anymore they do it, and as far as being FRA compliant we turn them in to the FRA they came down started giving fines out then made us qualify them in doing brake test and teach them to copy track warrents then qualify them on our trackage. thats fine with us terry respondex wont stay in buisness long after a few law suits.
As far as other go where i work we dont have a problem filling jobs and doing the work the guys fight over these jobs yes some jobs are better than others but none go unfilled, But Im not even worried because the contract that is in effect states that all jobs will have a engineer on it. so if they want to run the remote ill sit there let it run i still have the stop handle.
Wabash1, your attitude is the very reason why I dislike Unions, they think they are High-n-Mighty over everyone else. They think they don’t have to thlep anyone else. I would do everything I could to help my company keep things running sommethly.

There’s one thing I learned on the railroad. The only constant is change. I think of all the operations around me, and they change owners more than I change my shorts.
And stop categorizing people based on union membership. Really is a stupid barometer of a person. A union man can be a jackass as much as a non-union man. And I’ve known union men that would give someone the shirt off their back, and can say the sam about non-union men.
Ok here is your wake up call. respondex only has operational right ( trackage rights ) on any road they run on. that means they haft to follow the same rules as the owner puts out. ( meaning when im on the BNSF do as the rules say or on the TRRA do as they say) NS will ban the crews for allowing treaspassers on company property and arrest the treaspassers. And YES I WILL MAKE THE CALL, FAST QUICK AND IN A HURRY. Like I said before he wont be around for long after a couple of law suits and my job is safe , So why dont you run on down track side with them guys at 5 degrees and railfan
This is terriable. I make a comment about my Favorite Railroad purchasing 2 Ex-CNW SD40-2’s, and then this guy comes around making rude comments because My favorite railroad is Non-Union. ALL because he HATES non-union railroads.
My Only guess is that no-one can comment about their favorite little shortline without this idiot here making some rude remarks about them being Non-Union. Terry Respondek is a good friend of mine, a DOWN TO EARTH Gentle-man who is Providing a Service to areas that would have LOST rail service because Union Men did not want to work those operations anymore.

RESPONDEK IS ONE OF THE BEST OPERATIONS IN THE COUNTRY. That is my opinion, Don’t Like it? DEAL WITH IT!
Bergie and Myself got along fine he told me several times he enjoyed my post to keep it up. and 2nd I dont care if you was gone a year or even 2. you have no idea what we do as union members to keep the company moving we are not like electricians or brick layers or any of those unions who wont get off their buts to do something, as a engineer ive got off the engine went and tied brakes for the conductor while hes walking up from 25 cars back so we can leave and not haft to burn the extra board for relief crews, i go and line switches to make my movement happen, so do others . We as company and with fellow workers work together here. Its not a union thing. and for you to lump everyone together is wrong
My problem with respondex is dont come up to me as a perfect christian saying GOD BLESS you and I will pray for you then as you walk away take out the dagger and stab me with it.
