Results Of Painting My 1957 Lionel 202 Diesel

Thanks to all the members of this forum that guided me with information and their knowledge on how to strip and repaint my boyhood Lionel 202. I was rough on my first train and thought I would clean it up prior to my grandsons receiving it. After stripping it with Simple Green I primed it and found a Rustoleum Orange paint that I felt matched close to the original. Multiple coats later and letting it cure, I received the decals and applied them.
My only question is, if I apply a clear coat, which one have you found to be most realistic: Gloss, satin, or matte sheen. Thanks again for the help

Oh wow! She looks gorgeous! I’d go with satin, gloss would obscure the details and matte would make it look “cheap” in my opinion.

Outstanding! It looks BETTER than new!
I concur with Becky, I’d go with the satin (semi-gloss) finish. I don’t know that a matte finish would make it look cheap but a full gloss would make it look a little too toyish. in my opinion anyway. Semi-gloss is my usual go-to for a top coat.
